Date:2024-04-09 View:

On the afternoon of April 3, the College of Arts and Letters (Center for Language and Culture) successfully held a special teaching and research meeting on “Guidance on Scientific Research Project Submission” in 1104 Jingjiang Building. The meeting invited Associate Professor Yu Hongyan, Vice Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Deputy Director of the Language and Culture Center, to give a lecture entitled “Selection of Topics for Scientific Research Projects and Writing of Project Proposals”. The lecture attracted full-time and part-time teachers of the College of Arts and Letters (Language and Culture Center) and teachers of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature to listen to the lecture and learn and discuss the experience and skills of declaring scientific research projects and writing applications together.

First of all, Vice Dean Yu Hongyan shared her experience on the strategy of selecting topics for scientific research projects by combining her rich experience in applying for and evaluating many scientific research projects, such as the National Social Sciences Program. She centered on the theme of “what to look for in a declaration”, pointing out that the writing of declaration aims to solve the two core problems of “valuable” and “capable”. In this regard, the title should be novel, the target should be specific, the content should be detailed and the goal should be feasible.

Then, Dean Yu further discussed the issue of “how to choose a topic” with everyone. He pointed out that a good topic selection often requires the author to go through careful conceptualization and refinement. At the same time, it should be basic, oriented and distinctive, guided by national needs, and provided detailed guidance on topic selection strategy.

Finally, through specific case study of declaration, Dean Yu shared her experience on the writing skills of each part of the declaration. She pointed out that when combing the previous research results, it is necessary to reflect the relevance of the topic and highlight the advantages of personal research; when writing the research framework and research ideas, it is recommended to use more charts and graphs; for the research methodology section, it is necessary to fully reflect the professionalism and correspondence, and pay attention to the use of quantitative tools.

After the lecture, the teachers had an in-depth communication with Dean Yu about the problems they encountered in the process of applying for and writing research projects, and Dean Yu answered them patiently and carefully. After the meeting, teachers said that this seminar made them have a deeper understanding of the topic selection strategy of scientific research projects, and learned a lot of application writing skills, and at the same time improved their scientific research interest and enthusiasm. In the future, they will further consolidate the learning results of this seminar, actively participate in the application of various scientific research projects, and strive to improve their personal academic research ability and subject declaration level.
