On Feb. 20 to Feb. 24, 2017, Professor Ren Xiaozheng, Dean of School of Liberal Arts and Director of the Language and Culture Center, visited Gyeonggi-do Education Department, Kyungpook National University, and Gyeonggi-do Foreign Language Education Institute, and Korea Health Education Association. The fruitful achievements include three cooperation agreements signed and two cooperation projects agreed upon. On February 21, Professor Ren Xiaozheng visited College of Humanities and Chinese Department of Kyungpook National University and signed a memorandum of cooperation in academic education. During the meeting, the two sides held detailed discussion on the joint training program for doctors. Professor Hwangbo, Yeong-jo, Dean of the School of Humanities, Kyungpook National University, highly agreed with the project. The two sides reached a consensus to promote the joint training and cooperation of doctors together. At the same time, substantial communication was made between long-term and short-term visits between professors and students on both sides, and two projects were agreed: (1) Kyungpook National University will send a delegation (including five professors and four doctoral students and one postgraduate student) to go to Jiangsu University to conduct a nine-day research of Chinese literature; (2) At the beginning of July, Kyungpook National University will send an undergraduate delegation (20-30 students) to Jiangsu University to learn Chinese for 4 weeks. Jiangsu University will also actively prepare for the “2017 Visiting Korean University Project”. On February 22, a visit was made to the Foreign Language Education Institute of Gyeonggi-do, Korea and a cooperation agreement was signed. On February 23, Professor Ren Xiaofei visited Korea Health Education Association which visited Jiangsu University in July, 2016 and January 23, 2017 and conducted a week-long study of Chinese language and culture. This visit not only increased the friendship between the two sides, but also determined the content of future cooperation. Kyungpook National University of Korea (KNU) was established in 1946 and developed into a national key comprehensive university consisting of 5 colleges in 1951. It enjoys the reputation of “the highest comprehensive university south of the Han River” in South Korea. "In 2011, it ranked 61st in Asia and entered the list of the world's top 500 universities compiled by Shanghai Jiaotong University. Kyungpook National University currently has 13 colleges, 9 graduate schools, more than 1,000 professors, and more than 24,000 students. The visit to South Korea has consolidated the long-term friendly relationship between Jiangsu University and the Korean partners, expanded JSU's influence in South Korea, promoted Chinese language teacher training programs in Korea and encouraged foreign Chinese language and literature experts to visit JSU.
